About DuckDuckGift

My journey – going from feeling discouraged and hopeful.  Confused, but curious.  I wanted to understand; why did some of my gifts ‘hit’ and why did some fall flat?  How could I find gifts for the people I loved without treating it like a part time job?

Why didn’t I know anything about giving gifts when I’d been doing it for decades?

This website is my attempt to finally learn from my mistakes and my sucesses and the world at large.  To say, ‘hey, I gave my wife this and it was a cool idea’ or ‘I’m thinking about doing this, what do you think.’

Recently I felt the urge to make a blog for the 32,157th time but decided that I had to do something different. Like many people I had started a few blogs in the past and never stuck with them. No one read, so I didn’t write. To be honest, I’m not usually interested to go back and read those blogs, and I’m the main character.

With DuckDuckGift I am trying to find a topic that you want to read about first. I want to make your day brighter, your evening warmer, or your party easier because of what you read here.

I am interested to write about gift giving because I realized that I spent a fair amount of my budget on gifts, but most of them were forgotten as soon as they were given. The best gifts I’ve ever given or received had value completely unrelated to their price tag. I want to give more good gifts and I hope that writing about it will lead me there.
