Every web page on the internet is the same.
Okay, maybe they have different colors, but look at the first three hits in Google for ‘Gift Ideas’.
You’ll see gifts.com, uncommongoods.com, formengifts.com, redenvelope.com, and if you got to page 20+ you’ll see a bunch more that come and go.
They carry the same products. They have the same categories. They have the same sales copy on the main page.
This website is my attempt to do something different. To have a conversation about gifts without having a big “Buy it Now” button as motivation. To say, ‘hey, I gave my wife this and it was a cool idea’ or ‘I’m thinking about doing this, what do you think.’
Recently I felt the urge to make a blog for the 32,157th time but decided that I had to do something different. Like many people I had started a few blogs in the past and never stuck with them. No one read, so I didn’t write. To be honest, I’m not usually interested to go back and read those blogs, and I’m the main character.
With DuckDuckGift I am trying to find a topic that you want to read about first. I want to make your day brighter, your evening warmer, or your party easier because of what you read here.
I am interested to write about gift giving because I realized that I spent a fair amount of my budget on gifts, but most of them were forgotten as soon as they were given. The best gifts I’ve ever given or received had value completely unrelated to their price tag. I want to give more good gifts and I hope that writing about it will lead me there.
